What Does A Research Paper Look Like In The APA Format?

Different academic papers have different formats. For example, research papers relate to scientific topics and are usually written in the APA format. APA format requires students to follow particular rules when writing their works.   1. General rules for formatting.
  2. Your paper should consist of such sections as a title page, abstract, introduction, methods, results, discussion, and references.   3. Title page.
  4. Your title should be put in the centre of the page and consist of no more than 10-12 words that reflects the contents of your research. The title, your name, and the name of your college should be double-spaced. Create a running head and place it in the upper left corner of the page. The page number should be put in the upper right corner.

  5. Abstract.
  6. This is a brief summary of your entire work. It should include no more than 120 words and be written in one paragraph. Use one sentence to state your topic and give the overview of your methods, results, and conclusion.

  7. Introduction.
  8. In this section, you should introduce your topic to your readers. You may start with a more broad topic and then move on to your narrow subject. However, the main thing is that you should grab your readers’ attention, so make sure that your introduction isn’t boring. Include here the information that attracted your own attention to this topic.

  9. Methods.
  10. The purpose of this section is very straightforward. You should describe the methods that you used during your investigation so that your readers can duplicate them. For this reason, you should be very precise in your descriptions. Include all the participants, materials, and procedures.

  11. Results.
  12. Here you should present the outcomes of your research. There is no need to give your opinion in this section. Just give the dry figures.

  13. Discussion.
  14. This section is needed to state the significance of your findings and provide a proposal to your readers to continue your investigation. Give one or two good suggestions.

  15. References.
  16. Make a list of books and other materials that you used during your work and place it in this section in the alphabetical order.
